"IF it is for my daughter I could kill". . .

This mange freshly turned into an anime comes at an interesting time for human society.  Our news casts are often populated with racially-related news and events; from politicians that reinforce the race stereotypes to common joes and janes who act on them...

All the way to those who vehemently defend their religious views without missing those who believe that they should impose them unto everyone else either by conviction or force.

The manga deals with an adventurer-monster slasher from the human race.  Somehow there are "monsters" from other races that need to be exterminated and this character, "Dale" does this task along with others who bump into the story as it progresses.

It seems that Dale is a very skilled, highly efficient adventurer-monster slasher.  One day he bumps into a small demon child who apparently is left alone when her progenitor dies.  So Dale does a humanity-mercy deed and not only buries the corpse of the progenitor, but also takes the child with him.

First chapter of both the manga and the anime deal with this event.  From here on, the storyline talks about the life of the child in the human world.  As with most "slice of life" mangas and animes, there is so far little events that shock the world of the small child.

At the beginning of the post I mentioned that this manga deals with the problems with human society.  From the start up that the character goes "all the way" to take care of a demon-race child, means that there are other races that also have communication skills, intelligence and children. . . In addition, they care for their young and cherish them.

While the child grows in the middle of the human society, she learns that not all humans are friendly and more than one is willing to bet everything into how a person or being looks like.

Naturally, Mangakas take on the news and events of their surrounding world to create their own universes.  Therefore, it is not strange that they reflect this on their work, and it is still a wake up call and something that we should all reflect on.

But let's leave that aside.  There are a few things I want to share with you regarding differences between the manga and the anime.   Personally, I do like how the anime has been done, though the manga is not -by far- a second place.

One kudoz for the producers of the anime is that when the characters speak "demon" there is a hiragana-kanji translation underneath.  For the many Japanese students around, it is a help and good practice to read and understand.

Now, in terms of the drawings themselves.  While the drawing of the manga are far more sympathetic and cute; the execution seems too dark and many potentially interesting details go unnoticed.  This does not happen with the anime; though the characters themselves lack that "punch" that the manga has so much of.

Overall;  I do recommend this topic.  Either manga or anime, it's a nice way to spend an un-agitated afternoon of sweet relaxing.

It's been a while.. . .

It's been a while since last I posted anything on this blog.  It is not that I do not like Japan anymore or the wonderful fantasy world they provide through their mangas and animes.

My life, as much as anyone else's often takes me through very busy roads and I do not have the time to run around and devote time to write blogs.  But as with any other "new year resolution"; I am starting them over and over as the year goes by.

I am crossing my fingers and doing my best to retake the goals for this year.  One of them is putting my blog writing up to date and forward.  I guess my first mistake was to attempt to cover all anime and all manga out there.  Indeed a newbie mistake.

So let's start.

KoKoA FuJiWaRa

It's been a while since last I've read it, but today I felt in the mood to take a look back to some ol' favorites in my manga collection.

I do not own any printed exemplars, not that I miss them.  My "crib" is just as small as a Japanese flat, so having all the mangas that make me smile would leave me staying out in the street, out of room inside the house to shelter from the rain.

I was re- reading Kokoa Fujiwara's work...  Inu X Boku SS.  I think that for most of us, newfound otakus, this is one of the most relevant works in the manga world.   While there are others that know it only from the anime short-series, it is rare the one who knows about this work and says: "meh!" in regards to the complexity of the overall storyline and the connection of the characters.

The fact that it is a fantasy surrounding or that the characters themselves are a mixture of reality and fantasy matter little to the plot.

That desire to "dispose" of Miketsukami-chan...
Regardless, I still can't slowly go through the murder of Miketsukami as I can't quite forgive that the whole idea was conceived by a bored brat.

Yet, I can't stop smiling each time I read how Miketsukami, a very passive sadist, always get what HE wants despite whatever anyone else wants.  So much a reflection of the Japanese society, but then again, of all societies where women seek men that are "kind, committed, devoted and mild"...  hahaha

It would seem that "we" women have achieved our "independence" but in truth we are only seeking for such characters, that softly and behind the facade of being mild and moderate, they "guide us" and "coherce  us to do their will.

進撃 の巨人 Attack on Titan....

Last month I ordered a pizza.   The boy who delivered it was an interesting late teenager or young adult.  Which ever you want.  He was late and of course, I was already on the phone checking on this "30 minutes or it's free" policy that a certain pizzeria worldwide has.

It shocked me to learn that, despite all their advertising according to the delivery boy's statement, they DO charge pizzas to their employees....  I mean... WTH?

Anyway, as I was on the phone and a mild rain started to pour, I noticed that he was wearing a button...

At first, I thought it was this image:
Ichigo Kurosaki  (Bleach)

I asked him if it was Ichigo.  He looked at me as if I had said that he had a pop quiz that was worth the entirety of the semester...  Boy it's been a long time since I am out of school....  Anyway, he hesitated and said "no.... hum....it's...." then I realized that it was THIS image:
Eren Yeager (Attack on titan)

And of course, we started talking and chatting about the whole Season 2....  I know that Attack on Titan has gotten a booster with the second season, but I wonder if all this paraphernalia will stop as suddenly as it rose?

Will it be as successful as Bleach was during its time?

Pokemon Go.... friend or foe?

I was just reading a quick note related to the pokemon go craze.  Authorities are beginning to say "enough is enough" in terms as to where and how pokemon go players can interact and capture these virtual creatures.  (the story is here:http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/09/pokemon-go-church-russian-blogger-sokolovsky-faces-jail-term/)

It might seem over-challenging but I do believe that there is a place and a spot for everything.   A real problem is that all the "how to" and "secrets of" the pokemon go series everywhere state that the best strategy is to be there in a location for at least 5 minutes and then pokemons will start to appear

While that might be true, staying in a single location for 2 hours is not only boring but also extenuating.  People (specially young ones) will start to walk about, do other stuff with their phones or even with OTHER phones and electronics like the PSP or such.  Doing this in the park is ok, but when other people are trying to enjoy a movie, tour a museum or even pray during their Faith's religions services is not only rude but can also incur in serious economical and legal problems.

I believe that the problems that the world society is having with events such as the pokemon go craze, just as the flash mobs and others is the perfect example of what happens when society is afraid to be "politically incorrect".

Like most "older adults" (when did adults became: young, middle and older??? anyway...) I was also raised with the guidelines to respect my elders, not to run in Church,  Sit down when I go to the movies (and do not run about like a crazy person) and so on.  Today's youth doesn't do that.

While there is no question that their adult years WILL be definitely troublesome and will have to fix the damage that we, our parents and our ancestors did with the world as they rammed through it seeking power and ritches, nothing will come from that adulthood if they are not taught the basics on ethics and moral.

Maybe Pokemon Go is a friend of the future because by being a foe of the present it is forcing today's power-weelding adults to make adjustments and control tomorrow's power weelding adults.

ATTACK ON TITAN....wtf??

As many of you I am sure, I finished -barely- watching "attack on Titan".  I follow the manga on several of the many wonderful portable apps out there, still I haven't been able to actually read it... NONETHELESS, I follow it!

Maybe one day I will have the balls to do it.  (^ .  ^)

Still, I watched in horror as the first Titans attacked the human settlement and saw the murder of Eren's Mom....  Good Anime Heavens!  What is going on?! What kind of sick mangaka decides that it is a good idea to portray the murder of a mom and in such a terrible manner???  It felt like Bambi's mum dying all over again.

Of course, I went online to see if it was just a "prune" thing of mine, but no.   Most of the sites I saw said exactly the same thing:  "WTF????"  On that note I do recommend these guys:
https://youtu.be/5lTrr9HXRU8  Their reactions are great!

It is an important shock and I think this might be the first and foremost reason why the anime is so capable of hooking you in.  That and the entry song which, of course, is badass.

But I did not plan on talking about the entire series. just Annie LeonHardt.  What is going on with her?  She's, of course, the first notion that there is a plot of humans with a quarrel against humanity... Which makes me wonder, so, each time they look at themselves in the mirror, do they scream at themselves:  "I hate you?!"

I do not have much faith in humanity, but to battle my own species seems somewhat idiotic...  Then again, it might be just me.

The Over-run plots

Any person who has taken upon him or herself the challenge of writing something other than a school report; whether it is a poem, a short story or even a novel can relate to this:  There are only so many twists that you can give any writing

Twists are created to make the story more exciting, but there are only so many different kind of enemies that can be there, right? So, naturally, it comes a time when all the Manga and the Anime that belong to a specific genre are pretty much the same darn thing.  This is particularly true with Shoujo and Slice of Life genres.

I haven't dedicated that long to reading manga or to watch thousands of animes.  But it is pretty standard; sad though because there are topics that can give way to so much more while others are squeezed beyond rationality to come up with a few meager good chapters....

Or what do you think?
